I am writing a review for A Field Guide to Grasshoppers, Katydids & Crickets. This field guide has stunningly beautiful photographs and is truly an easy way to distinguish between grasshoppers and katydids from other insects. It was very useful when I worked in pollination ecology with wild bees. Because it allowed me to identify which insects were grasshoppers or katydids. So that I would know if they visited flowers to feed on pollen or were just passing through looking for nectar. The book has a lot of information on when certain species are present. And what you should do if you find one while out hiking, fishing, or at your summer camp!
About “Ray R. Weil, Nyle C. Brady” the Authors
Ray R. Weil served as Director of Agricultural Research in New Jersey for more than 30 years; he was responsible for conducting research on soil management to help maintain a high level of productivity in its soils while conserving its natural resources. He has written more than 90 scientific papers and is also the author or co-author of two textbooks: Basic Concepts in Soil Science, Environmental Soil Science. At Rutgers University, Dr. Weil was Professor and Chairman of Department Natural Resources; Acting Dean School Agriculture; Acting Vice President Undergraduate Studies.
