Winter’s Heart (abbreviated WH) is the 9th book in the Wheel of Time series by American author Robert Jordan, published by Tor Books and released on January 15, 2000. The cover art was by Darrell K. Sweet. It was the first Wheel of Time book to be published following Jordan’s death. And was completed based on notes he left behind. And several chapters are written by Brandon Sanderson using Jordan’s world-building notes to complete the novel. The final three books in the series were completed by Sanderson after being heavily edited by Harriet McDougal and Alan Romanczuk.

Winter’s Heart is a fantasy novel written by American author Robert Jordan and published in hardcover in October 2000. It is book nine of The Wheel of Time series. While it starts partway through one story, it ends with another story at least partially resolved. These stories are The Mirror of Mists and In Search of a Remedy. Winter’s Heart won both the Hugo Award for Best Novel and Locus Award for Best Fantasy Novel in 2001. A movie based on characters from George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire novels, titled Game of Thrones, was released worldwide in April 2011. The film was directed by Alan Taylor and produced by HBO.

The book begins with Moiraine Sedai, her Warder Lan Mandragoran, Nynaeve, Egwene al Vere, and Thom Merrilin traveling through a quiet mountain range on their way to Tar Valon in hopes of obtaining answers from three of the Amyrlin Seat. As they travel, each person is affected by personal issues related to their current circumstances as well as events that happened during The Great Hunt about two years prior. Meanwhile, Matrim Cauthon prepares for battle against Shaido Aiel who has kidnapped his wife Tuon. Also present are Perrin Aybara and Faile Bashere who are trying to rescue Mat from certain death at Son’s hands.

James Oliver Rigney, Jr. (born January 17, 1948), who writes under the pen name Robert Jordan, is an American author of epic fantasy. He is best known for The Wheel of Time series, which has been adapted into a television series called The Wheel of Time for broadcast on Japanese television and to be released in other media formats in late 2009 and early 2010. His work has been described as rural south with magic (New York Times Book Review) or as Kentucky thunder flavored with sorcery (San Francisco Chronicle). In addition to contemporary fantasy, he also wrote three historical fiction novels under his legal name.
