Overview About “The Disappeared” by “C. J. Box “

The Disappeared (2013) is an excellent crime novel that takes place in rural Wyoming and focuses on a series of murders in which all of the victims are young women. They have vanished and turned up dead sometime later. A primary suspect is a man named Earl Flensburg. A Vietnam vet who lives with his sister and doesn’t talk much (much like Robert Baratheon). But our protagonist, Joe Pickett, has decided to look into some other possibilities after he finds out that Earl was able to pass his lie detector test despite being so quiet around people. And now it’s clear there’s more than one killer at work here. Excellent thriller from start to finish with great pacing and characterization – highly recommended!

Reviews About “The Disappeared” by “C. J. Box”

The Disappeared is not your average detective novel. The character, Joe Pickett, is a real person and is a former game warden for Wyoming. That’s right—this book was actually written by an actual game warden (CJBox). After retiring from his role as a game warden, he began writing novels featuring his experience in law enforcement and at least five have become New York Times bestsellers. This book certainly lived up to expectations: it’s fast-paced with plenty of twists that will keep you engaged until you finish it in just one sitting (as I did). If you haven’t read CJ Box before, now is definitely a good time to start!
