I have just finished reading Secret Daughter and am still on a bit of an emotional high from it! What a great story and so well written. I loved reading about India, as I had never been there before. The characters are all so real. You don’t feel like they are just characters in a book, but instead, people that you want to know better. This is y first book by Shilpi, but it won’t be my last.
About “Shilpi Somaya Gowda” the author of “Secret Daughter”
Dr. Gowda has a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and is licensed as a Clinical Psychologist, with over 25 years of experience in clinical practice. She lives in Seattle with her husband and daughter, though much of her family still lives in Bangalore, India where she was born and raised. Though Secret Daughter is Dr. Gowda’s first novel, she has written five non-fiction books about parenting for Indian-American families as well as articles for magazines including Parents magazine and India Currents. Her inspiration for Secret Daughter comes from her own story.
