Overview About “The Summer Children” by “Dot Hutchison”
The Summer Children is a novel published in 1994 by author Patrick McGrath. It’s not quite horror, it’s not quite a mystery, but there are disturbing themes and issues within its pages. It’s certainly very well written and was voted one of Stephen King’s favorite novels of all time (so you know it’s good) as well as earning praise from Bret Easton Ellis as the great overlooked masterpiece of recent fiction. So obviously I had to read it, though. Whether I liked it or not is irrelevant for our purposes here…but I did like it! Probably because I’m crazy and love dark weird tales with questionable morals that haunt me days after reading them. Whatever your reasons may be, enjoy my discussion on The Summer Children below; if you haven’t already, pick up a copy while they’re still cheap!
