This is part of a series that follows a family, made up of some humans and some paranormals. The books each focus on one couple’s romance and their relationship with each other and their common cause. The books are meant to be read in order; you won’t get much out of them otherwise. This book focuses on Kerrigan Smith (elemental) and Logan Quinn (werewolf). Kerrigan lost her entire family when she was young, so she avoided attachments or any kind of emotional entanglements.

Logan is very happy with his two dogs; he doesn’t want a wife or kids. He can feel something between him and Kerrigan but isn’t sure what it is. They both have secrets they’re keeping from each other, which makes it difficult for them to trust each other completely. It’s hard for me to tell if I like these characters or not because I’m supposed to dislike Logan but I just don’t see why. He seems like a good guy who would do anything for those he cares about – even if it means losing himself in the process. There were several parts where I felt myself getting annoyed at him, but then he’d say something that would make me think differently about him again. And as for Kerrigan, well…I can understand why she does what she does but there were several times when I wanted to shake her!
