I’m not sure what I expected from this book, but it certainly wasn’t as good as it was. When I started reading it, I did not expect to cry over and over again. And re-read certain parts just because they were so well written. The movie actually follows the book pretty closely, which makes sense considering that Jojo Moyes wrote the screenplay as well. If you are planning on seeing the movie, do read the book first to get the full effect!

It is a bittersweet book, written with tenderness and love. But it deals with death and dying. It’s not a happy story and not one that you finish quickly because you want to know what will happen. I wanted to know what would happen but did not always want to read about it or think about it or wonder what would happen next. A lot of terrible things happened along with some wonderful ones too, but I found myself thinking about them for days after I finished reading it.
