Ancillary Sword is a wonderful book that continues to develop a beautiful universe, strong characters, and intricate politics. The only problem I have with it is a slight tinge of predictability which detracts from my true enjoyment. If you are looking for an interesting sci-fi series that offers unique world-building and cultural development. Then I would definitely recommend Ancillary Justice and Ancillary Sword. However, if you enjoy being surprised with twists and turns then be warned. That it might become rather easy to figure out what’s going to happen next.

When I finished Ancillary Justice last year. I was pretty sure it would be a contender for my favorite book of 2014. But then I heard about its sequel and that it would have both gender fluidity and a diverse cast (just from reading a brief synopsis). Needless to say, I was chomping at the bit to get my hands on Ancillary Sword once it was released, as were many others. In fact, even before it was available for pre-order—which is rare—it was already breaking sales records online.

Ann Leckie is an American science fiction writer. She won several major awards for her debut novel, Ancillary Justice (2013), including the 2014 Hugo Award for Best Novel, making her at that time the first author to win a Hugo Award before finishing a second novel. Her short fiction has been nominated three times for the Nebula Awards and four times for Hugo Awards.
