I was looking for a book to read while on vacation. The title caught my eye because I love Texas history. I’m not familiar with any of her other books, but really enjoyed how she described Texas in days gone by. The characters are well written and you get into their lives right away. Looking forward to reading more from Carolyn Brown! Note: I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review, though all opinions are my own. About “Carolyn Brown” the author of “The Yellow Rose Beauty Shop”
During her teen years, she learned how to do hair and make-up from her mother and aunt who were both beauticians. She started writing poems at a young age, then after attending college at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas she transferred to Stephen F. Austin State University where she received her degree in Education. Carolyn taught school for many years before she started writing fiction novels. Her first published novel was The Yellow Rose of Texas: A Novel About Sam Houston which was released in 2009.
