The Gathering Storm is a fantasy novel written by American author Robert Jordan. The book was first published on November 7, 2009 (hardcover), and January 25, 2010 (paperback) in Canada; on January 26, 2010 (hardcover) and February 2, 2010 (paperback) in the United States. It was released worldwide on January 28th of that year. As with most of his other books, it has been published simultaneously in several languages including English, German, French, and Spanish. The book is volume 12 in a series called The Wheel of Time. Which has so far consisted of 14 books from 1990 to 2014. The Gathering Storm is set at least 20 years after the previous book Winter’s Heart and consists of three main plot lines.

ROBERT JORDAN was born in 1948 in Charleston, South Carolina. He taught himself to read when he was four with the incidental aid of a twelve-years-older brother and was tackling Mark Twain and Jules Verne by five. He read works by Edgar Rice Burroughs, Jane Austen, and C.S. Forester as a child then began reading everything else he could find in his father’s bookstore as soon as he learned to walk. Jordan eventually graduated from The Citadel in 1970 with a bachelor’s degree in physics.
