With Brent Weeks’s name attached to it, I was expecting The Black Prism to be a good book. And let me tell you, I wasn’t disappointed. It’s easily the best fantasy novel I’ve read in the last year or so. The Black Prism builds on what Weeks established in his Night Angel trilogy. And I loved this book because it provides much more of an insight into one of the most compelling characters from that series.

The Black Prism is a fantasy novel written by American author Brent Weeks. It was published in 2009 and is included in The Lightbringer series. Which is also made up of The Blinding Knife (2012) and The Broken Eye (2014). Weeks has said that he originally conceived of these novels as a trilogy. But after writing more than a million words on it, he realized there was more story to tell and that it should be a five-book series. As such, he added two books to his original plan. The Black Prism focuses on Kip Guile, who lives in Chromeria with his mother Karris White Oak. He’s training to become a drafter like everyone else but doesn’t seem very good at it. When Gavin Guile offers him an apprenticeship, Kip’s life changes forever. Gavin takes him along for an adventure that will change everything they know about magic…

If you are a Fantasy and Sci-Fi fan then The Black Prism is a book that you should read. I have never really read books of that genre and was nervous to give it a try. However, I took my chances with The Black Prism because I am a big fan of Brent Weeks as an author. He has written some other great books (e.g., Lightbringer Trilogy) so there was no reason to think he would not deliver with his new book The Black Prism. In fact, Brent Weeks did not disappoint in any way. This book is full of adventure and excitement while also telling an intriguing story about different races throughout its pages! Plus it’s very well written so if you are looking for another good Fantasy novel make sure to check out The Black Prism today!
