Dr. John R. Zelle is an associate professor of computer science at Luther College and a Python Core Developer and PyPI author. Including conference program chair for PyCon 1997 and 2001, Python core developer since 1998, secretary for SIGPLAN from 1999 to 2002, and board member of ACM from 2001-2006. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Iowa State University. Where his research was in number theory and computational algebraic geometry with applications in cryptography. These days it involves just solving puzzles rather than breaking them!
