About the Authors
Philip M. Gerhart received his doctorate from Stanford University in 1960 and taught at Clarkson College in Potsdam, New York before becoming a professor at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania in 1964. During his time at Lehigh University, he was given several awards including both a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1972 and a Fulbright Fellowship to lecture abroad in 1974. Where he spoke on his research overseas to those who were interested. These included students from other countries as well as those working for industry within them.
