Reviews About “Essentials of Physical Anthropology 3rd Edition”

The most recent edition in a long line of anthropological textbooks, Essentials of Physical Anthropology is a great choice for introductory classes at community colleges and research universities. It provides enough detail to be valuable to students yet is still written with undergraduates in mind. The book covers all aspects of human anatomy, evolution, genetic diversity, and modern methods used to research human biology. The prose tends toward technical jargon but stays understandable even for students with limited science backgrounds. To keep things interesting (and so readers don’t get bored), there are sidebars that cover various topics. Such as physical anthropology around the world or weird and wonderful facts about humans.
