Soo T. Tan has written Applied Calculus for the Managerial, Life, and Social Sciences 10th Edition with the intention that it be utilized as a text in undergraduate courses. That covers differential and integral calculus with applications to business, life, and social sciences fields of study. Although this book was designed primarily as a text in calculus-based introductory managerial, life, and social sciences courses. It could also be used as an introductory physics text or as an advanced-level mathematics course.

Overview About “Applied Calculus for the Managerial, Life, and Social Sciences 10th Edition”

Applied Calculus For The Managerial, Life And Social Sciences takes a practical approach to teach calculus in three volumes designed to cover all of introductory calculus. The first volume covers traditional topics in single variable calculus including limits, continuity, and differentiation as well as elementary applications of differential equations with emphasis on modeling real-world situations. The second volume covers integral calculus including antidifferentiation, sequences, and series. It then goes on to examine power series and complex numbers followed by an introduction to partial derivatives and multiple integrals with applications in probability theory.

Reviews About “Applied Calculus for the Managerial, Life, and Social Sciences 10th Edition”

There is so much text in applied calculus that it’s hard to absorb it all in one sitting. While you’re reading a section or chapter, stop every few paragraphs. And try to answer an exercise or two based on what you just read. It doesn’t matter if you get them right at first; focus on being able to explain your answers after each problem set. Going back through and correcting any mistakes will help cement concepts into your brain. You can even take notes as you go through problems to make sure you understand why certain steps are taken in a given solution. For example, the sign is correct because we used y = f(x) instead of y = f(−x). If you find yourself confused while trying to solve a problem set. Then there may be something within that concept that needs more attention.
