This is a great book for an Organic chemistry class. I would definitely recommend it to all students taking organic chemistry or even biochemistry or physics with a high-level college or university. The writing is very clear and concise which makes reading through complicated areas easy and painless. I enjoyed that every chapter had practice problems with solutions in addition to study questions at the end of each chapter. The sheer amount of review questions was so nice. Because I feel like these made sure that I retained as much information as possible before moving on to more difficult material in later chapters. It was also nice because they were grouped into sections. Such as nomenclature, reactions mechanisms. And applications that helped organize material in an easier way than if they were just randomly placed throughout each chapter.
About the Authors
Leroy G. Wade is currently an associate professor of chemistry at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. He earned his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University and held postdoctoral positions at Virginia Tech and Cornell University before joining Luther in 2000. His research interests include organic synthesis, natural products, and medicinal chemistry. A graduate of MIT with a degree in chemical engineering, Jan D. Simek is a professor emeritus of chemistry at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn., where he has been teaching since 1985 after receiving his Ph.D. from Stanford University.
