If you’re like me, after finishing a new mystery novel you look up reviews and try to find out what other people have to say about it. Then you read those people’s opinions, pay attention to what they loved or hated about it and, if your bookseller friend also agrees with them (that does not always happen), then you decide whether or not you’re going to buy that book for yourself. I know that doing all of that before I purchase a new title is just not very efficient but sometimes there’s just nothing else one can do when thousands of books are being published every day and we can’t read them all… at least yet! So when my friend Ms. Sarah from The Bookshelf Muse told me she was reading Good Girls Lie by J.T. Ellison, I asked her to tell me more about it.

Grisham has clearly drawn from his personal knowledge of the law to create a believable story about a man caught up in a murder investigation and then forced to live with what he knows about it and what he can prove. This book will keep you up late into the night because you won’t want to put it down until you have read every word. Trust me on that one! If you enjoy Grisham’s novels, I highly recommend giving Good Girls Lie a chance! It is an easy read but with enough twists and turns to keep any mystery lover happy. Mike Wingate is an attorney who has found himself engaged in a case in which someone close to him could be accused of murder.
About “J.T. Ellison” the author of “Good Girls Lie”
Ellison has been nominated for every major award in mystery and crime fiction, winning several including an Agatha Award for best novel, a Macavity Award for the best mystery novel, and both an Anthony and Mary Higgins Clark award for her outstanding body of work in suspense fiction. She is also one of my favorite authors! For example, she wrote a great book called Bad Blood with new author Naomi Hirahara about a Japanese-American serial killer called The Hangman who appears to be targeting mixed race girls from L.A. high schools. It was fantastic! Also, she has written historical mysteries as well as other modern-day thrillers! Can’t wait to read more of her books!
