Overview About “The Practice of Statistics 6th Edition”
The Practice of Statistics is intended to provide a review of elementary statistics as well as sample size and power calculations. This book also serves as a reference tool for anyone. Who wishes to use statistical methods but does not have access to more comprehensive textbooks. The emphasis in each chapter is on statistical practice rather than mathematical proofs and derivations. Wherever possible we present results using real data and discuss problems faced in applying particular methods in actual research settings. Throughout, the authors illustrate practical aspects of statistics using examples from many fields within biology and medicine including human genetics, ecology, developmental biology, biochemistry, and chemistry among others; in some cases, these applications focus on medically important topics such as pharmacogenetics/pharmacogenomics or HIV/AIDS.
