Overview About “Operating System Concepts 10th Edition”
Operating System Concepts is a textbook for a course in operating systems, typically taken in upper-level undergraduate or beginning graduate courses. This book presents an overview of computer systems and shows how to implement them using operating system concepts and methods that are applicable to contemporary systems. The first edition was published in 1990; since then there have been several updates, with small changes between each one. But large ones between major revisions (the third through sixth editions were so different they were considered separate books). The seventh edition was published in December 2012, followed by a 71⁄2 edition in December 2015 with one chapter removed due to printing errors.
Reviews About “Operating System Concepts 10th Edition”
Operating System Concepts is a comprehensive introduction to operating systems and provides a solid foundation in computer system organization, design principles, and operating system concepts. This book contains four main sections: Systems Programming; Process Management; Concurrent Processes; and Memory Management and File Systems. Each section begins with an overview of key issues followed by more detailed discussions of select topics. Such as storage management, process management, and concurrency control mechanisms for concurrent processes. To help students understand these concepts at a deeper level—and to show how they are related to one another. The book also includes several case studies throughout each section that present interesting design questions from real-world systems and exercises for students to work through on their own or in groups.
