Spell Bound is a young adult fantasy novel, written by American author Rachel Hawkins. It is her debut novel and it was published in January 2012 through St. Martin’s Griffin. It is currently scheduled to be released on August 28th, 2012. The story follows Sophie Mercer after she discovers that she has inherited supernatural powers of witchcraft and attends Hecate Hall, a school for witches. Where she forms a pact with hellion Alex Fierro and befriends supernatural boy Declan Chase. A spin-off titled Hex Hall was released in October 2011 as well as a second book entitled Spell Breaker in March 2013. Which will serve as part of a series along with a third book entitled Spell Game to be released December 31st, 2013.

Hawkins manages to perfectly capture what it feels like to have magic zap through your veins and feel a bit out of control. Her writing is absolutely amazing, as always, and I can’t wait for more books in her Hex Hall series. As soon as you pick up Spell Bound, you won’t be able to put it down until you finish it. If you haven’t read any of Rachel Hawkins’s books yet (Curses! Foiled Again), then you definitely need to start right now.
