Overview About “Database Systems: Design, Implementation, & Management 11th Edition”

If you are interested in taking a deep dive into database systems and want to learn about how relational databases work and what makes them tick. Then you are going to enjoy looking through Database Systems. It’s part of a larger series of books covering database systems and technology that has been used by many universities for years. The book looks at all aspects of database development from architecture design to programming using SQL. There is quite a bit of math involved in it. So if you aren’t good with math then it might be difficult for you. But with that said there are plenty of examples to follow along with which makes things easier for beginners.

Reviews About “Database Systems: Design, Implementation, & Management 11th Edition”

Coronel and Morris successfully convey their subject matter with a sense of ease that eases students into some very sophisticated programming. To be honest I never had any success in database courses until I found [this book]. The step-by-step examples do an excellent job of clearly illustrating how to create databases. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in database design and implementation. It is well organized, easy to follow, and can be used as either a self-study course or an advanced course in computer science curricula.

About “Carlos Coronel, Steven Morris” the Authors

Carlos Coronel is a Professor of Computer Science at Texas A&M University. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University. In addition to teaching Database Systems, he has taught courses in Web technology and Data Mining. His research interests include Relational Database Theory and Data Mining with applications to decision making in business environments using data from multiple sources including web-based transaction processing systems, sensors networks, RFID tags, financial market data streams, etc., as well as bioinformatics and medical informatics applications. His doctoral work addressed relational database theories for aggregation operators. Such as Cartesian Products, outer joins, and materialized views on large-scale distributed information systems. That also considered inter-partition query optimization over wireless networks under uncertainty conditions.
