George Saunders is an American writer and Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient. He’s been a journalist, tech writer, screenwriter, playwright, editor, and English teacher. His work has appeared in many major publications including The New Yorker, Esquire, and GQ. He is also a contributor to This American Life. Lincoln in the Bardo is his second novel; he also wrote Tenth of December: Stories and won several awards for his writing including a Guggenheim Fellowship. The book was adapted into a film by director Martin Scorsese and stars Tom Hanks as Abraham Lincoln’s ghost. Steven Spielberg bought rights to his next book before its publication so it will be interesting to see how that turns out!
