This review of One Tough Cowboy is written from two perspectives. The first is from my point of view as a person who adores Lora Leigh’s writing. The second perspective is from someone who hasn’t read any other books in her series. But has read quite a few romantic suspense novels. What I love about Leith’s work, specifically with the Elite Ops series, is that she isn’t afraid to take chances and step outside of contemporary romance norms. Her characters are sexy and strong. Her plots are exciting and filled with action. Yet they are always grounded in a deep emotional current flowing between her hero and heroine that provides an authentic romantic connection without relying on many tropes or contrived situations common to other genres of romances.

I’ve read some of Ms. Leigh’s work before and had liked it, but I think it may have been one of her older books. This series is fabulous, though. I love how each book ends in a way that makes you want to immediately start reading the next book. The characters are engaging, and it was hard to put down once I started reading One Tough Cowboy and wondered what would happen next for them. If you like hot cowboys with a protective hero without being overbearing and a heroine who has an innocence about her (but she’s not stupid) then you’ll enjoy these novels too!
