Lover Eternal is the second book in JR Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series. After a brief appearance in Dark Lover, Zsadist, a vampire who was tortured as a young man and left with deep psychological scars and much bitterness, is featured prominently in his own tale of redemption. The brotherhood butts heads with both human law enforcement agencies and less-human evildoers. While I don’t particularly like romance novels (mostly because they’re not nearly as complex as I like my fiction), I had to pick up Lover Enshrined to see what happens next!

This was my first book written by JR Ward and I was immediately caught up in their writing style. Their characters are rich and complex, their stories original and well crafted. The paranormal is just right, not too much but enough to be interesting. There were times when I wished I could read faster because I didn’t want to put it down and yet at other times I loved being lost in their world with these characters who feel like old friends already.
