Mary Alice Monroe is a popular American author. She lives with her husband in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. Her writing career began after she became a mother and wife. She had been working as a reporter for Daily News since 1982. But she quit her job to spend time with her children. However, even though she left Daily News in 1995. When she finished writing a book that was published by Avon Books (now owned by HarperCollins), her love for writing never stopped. Because eventually, she decided to start freelancing. Since then, every year two or three books have been published based on her ideas or her famous Secret Sister series. Which follows eight women who are friends and who meet at their beach home every year during hurricane season. The first novel of Mary Alice Monroe’s Secret Sisters series titled The Beach House was released in 2002.

Review About “Second Star to the Right” by “Mary Alice Monroe”

I thought that it was a very interesting book. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is interested in writing a story of their own. The only downside to it is that sometimes she gets off subject. Which makes you wonder where she is going with her story. If you can get past that, then it is definitely a book worth reading. It has a lot of detail and everything happens fast-paced enough so as not to bore you but slow enough so as not to miss any important details or parts of her story. All in all, I enjoyed reading Second Star To The Right and am looking forward to reading more stories written by Mary Alice Monroe…perhaps one about Stevie? 🙂 This novel takes place in South Carolina, North Carolina, and other places throughout America. The time period is just after World War II through the 1960s.
