Victor Methos was an arsonist, who burned down properties in Indianapolis and Los Angeles in the early 1950s. During his life, he set more than 200 fires that resulted in over 50 deaths and hundreds of injuries. He died in 2006 while serving time in San Quentin State Prison. If you read one book in 2015, make it Arsonist. Full of intrigue and a plot that moves forward so quickly that you can’t help but finish in one sitting, Arsonist is an absolute thriller from beginning to end. The characters are multidimensional, although some perhaps more than others, all are well crafted enough to pull off their parts expertly. The character development is very strong; again though some more than others as we get a great sense of who Victor Methos’ main protagonist is and what drives him as a character. He’s every bit as troubled as they come with many psychological issues being brought up throughout which helped me connect with him far more effectively than any other character in any novel I have ever read before!

I met homicide detective Sam Kovac when I was a reporter for WRC, Washington’s NBC affiliate. He was investigating what appeared to be a family murder-suicide, but his gut told him otherwise. The more he dug into it, the uglier things got: crooked cops and drug dealing in high places. But that story is told in Dead Cold (Victor Methos) atelier of Lies (Victor Methos). Dead Cold and Fatal Secrets are published under my pen name, Frank Balenger. My third book under that name will be released in April 2018. I have written three books with another on tap for early next year under my own name, Victor Methos. The arsonist was my first novel ever published!
