She has been hired to help market the launch of a new brand of an air-conditioning system, who at the same time tries to unravel the mystery behind The Tokyo Businessmen’s Club by attempting to decode its pattern.

Pattern Recognition is a science fiction novel that was first published in 2003. It is written by William Gibson, and although it may be considered an example of cyberpunk literature. It is also an example of postmodern literature. As well as a picture of life in Western society after September 11th, 2001. Postmodernism can be described as a general trend that attempts to challenge cultural authority and existing power structures through questioning/rethinking and deconstructing traditional assumptions about these matters. An examination of postmodernism reveals a modern setting (i.e., present-day) with many advanced technologies available to people; thus, it can be described as science fiction since we have not yet reached those technological levels.

Pattern Recognition (2003) is a novel about reality TV. The second in a trilogy (the first being Virtual Light and then Idoru), Pattern Recognition takes place in London, Paris, Tokyo, and Moscow over six months in 2003-2004. A young woman named Cayce Pollard makes her living as a fashion accessory scout for film companies, traveling around Europe and taking pictures of potentially profitable trends. She soon begins to suspect that someone is following her. Maybe even hiring people to mimic her movements and break into her apartment. But she doesn’t know why. The book dips into segments where we read her personal journal, along with e-mails exchanged between friends and associates. As well as short stories are written on contract by high-profile authors like Haruki Murakami or Tetsuo Miura.

William Ford Gibson (born March 17, 1948) is an American-Canadian speculative fiction writer and essayist widely credited with pioneering the science fiction subgenre known as cyberpunk. Beginning his writing career in 1976, his early works were noir, near-future stories that explored the effects of technology, cybernetics, and computer networks on humans—ironically in light of his long advocacy for technology’s beneficial impact on humanity. His later focus broadened to take in many intersecting themes: memory, cultural context, multinational corporations, and popular culture.
