Seed is a fascinating mix of horror and paranormal fiction. It’s a fairly quick read, but it still manages to pack in quite a lot of plot: a young woman named Harper is forced to leave her college town after a tragedy; she takes refuge in an isolated farmhouse in rural Kansas with her younger brother, sister-in-law, and nephew. Determined to make amends for past mistakes, Harper hopes that living near her family will help her make up for lost time with them; instead, their lives quickly spiral out of control. People start disappearing from their small community, leading Harper to believe that something evil has settled into Seed (aka Silver Creek). Not only are people disappearing, but random objects are turning up mutilated or destroyed.
