One Plus One by Jojo Moyes is a novel about two totally different women. They end up becoming friends at the most unexpected time in their lives. Emma is divorced and a young single mother of 14-year-old Olivia. She has just moved back to London to live with her father after being away at a boarding school in America. Jess, on the other hand, seems to have everything going on with her life well in order and also lives alone. However, she has just learned that she has breast cancer.

First of all, I don’t know if it counts as a spoiler but: I cried like a baby. This book is unbelievably beautiful and heartbreaking at times. This is an absolute roller coaster of emotions, with every chapter full of surprises that will just make you want to hug your friends and family. OR at least reach out to someone that you care about and tell them how much they mean to you. Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect with One Plus One. Because I had never read anything by Moyes before. But it is hands down one of my favorite books of all time! If you haven’t yet picked up a copy, please do so immediately. I can guarantee that it will be worth your time!

About “Jojo Moyes” the author of “One Plus One”
Jojo Moyes is a novelist and screenwriter. She was born in York, England, and read English at Oxford University. She was head-hunted for an entertainment job in New York but quickly returned to London, her true home. There she began writing novels. In 1997 she won a Creative Writing Fellowship from The Royal Literary Fund to support her work on her first novel, ‘Me Before You, which was published in 2006. This novel has sold over 2 million copies worldwide, been translated into 41 languages (to date), and was longlisted for The Man Booker Prize (2007). It also won a Romantic Novel of the Year Award as well as two Romantic Notions Awards: Best British Read 2007 & Book of 2008.
