The Nightjar by Deborah Hewitt is a painting based on the nightjar, an amazing bird that lives in Australia, which as it turns out, is one of the most common birds there, but you wouldn’t know it by looking at them. They blend in with the landscape so well they can’t be seen most of the time – they even become perfectly still like a stone when approached by humans or animals in the wild! When it comes to camouflage, though, nothing can beat this incredible bird! Here are some fun facts about the nightjar and its appearance that you might not have known before today.

Overview About “The Nightjar” by “Deborah Hewitt”

The artwork entitled Nightjar is an oil painting created with a palette knife. The name nightjar refers to any of several owls that are active during the night, feeding primarily on insects. The artwork depicts one owl perched atop a tree branch near what appears to be a pond of water. It is white in color with orange and black markings on its wings and tail. Its facial markings consist of two black eyespots, with thick concentric circles, which cover most of its face, and two round black spots for pupils, located within them. Like other birds in flight, it lacks legs; rather its body resembles that of a bird sitting upright on a branch.
