Nina Allan’s latest novel, The Dollmaker, focuses on Alice Clifton. She returns to her childhood home of Partridge Green after more than 20 years away to attend the funeral of her mother, Olive. Olive had been ill for some time and it comes as no surprise that she has passed away; however, what is surprising is the revelation that Olive was previously married, to a man named Ben Clifton.
Overview About “The Dollmaker” by “Nina Allan”
The Dollmaker (2018) is a new, multi-award-winning novel by British writer Nina Allan. It’s a beautiful, creepy story of quantum physics and reality which blends genres in an atmospheric way that’s hard to pin down. The titular dollmaker is Jilly Kitzinger, a woman who’s having intense nightmares about childhood and her mother, Rose. She also has vivid dreams of being with Paul Ashley. Her former university professor was involved in an important scientific experiment called Universe B (which tried to prove or disprove that there are alternate universes). They ultimately got together romantically; she went to visit him at his vacation house but he never showed up for their date.
Reviews About “The Dollmaker” by “Nina Allan”
Review about The Dollmaker by Nina Allan. This book is amazing and I would recommend it to all those who are interested in science fiction or just enjoy a good read. You won’t be disappointed with anything. However, you could be after reading and finishing it. Because you will want to read more! What I like most about The Dollmaker was that there were many interesting twists in the story and when something bad happened I didn’t know if it would turn out right or not. Even though there is violence sometimes, everything else makes up for it and I can easily say that they do not overdo any aspect of their story. It’s a great sci-fi book! Read on!
About “Nina Allan” the author of “The Dollmaker”
Nina Allan was born in Essex in 1965 and has been writing for about half her life. In addition to her fiction, she has written several works of non-fiction, as well as journalism and reviews, under various pseudonyms. She is also an occasional editor and anthologist. Her first collection of short stories, The Silver Wind, won both British Fantasy and World Fantasy awards; her second collection (The Rift) was published in 2017 to critical acclaim. Nina currently lives in North London with two fierce cats who are convinced they’re living their own lives. They frequently leave little presents in unlikely places – most recently on top of a painting that had just been sold to a museum. It’s nice that they feel so proud of me.
