The book is well written and full of tips, ideas, and little-known facts about France. It was a very easy read that I managed to get through in just a few hours. I’m going, to be honest, and say that it has been quite some time since I have lived in France (I spent 3 years there) so my memory may not be what it used to be but I really enjoyed reading about things from my past – how things were back then compared to now; it was actually quite amazing how things had changed! There are also lots of good hints about where you can eat, drink, etc… that most people living outside of France don’t know about – which is great because some of them are brilliant! I would recommend anyone who is planning on visiting France or even those who have never been before to read it as they will definitely learn something new!

She’s a freelance travel writer and translator from Paris, with a penchant for researching off-the-beaten-track destinations. Although she is fluent in both English and French, Fiona lived in Paris for five years without learning how to speak French. Her goal was to avoid having to rely on English when out and about in France, so she adopted an immersion strategy: every time she went to a new place or tried a new activity, she forced herself to find out as much information as possible in French. This meant slowing down, reading everything carefully, and even asking questions when necessary!
