Jeffery Deaver’s writing career began in 1982 after he read an article about the thriller writer, John D. MacDonald, who was struck by lightning on New Year’s Eve (how perfect is that?). On that day, Mr. Deaver made up his mind to become a novelist and went to work right away at getting published. By October of that year, he sold his first short story, The House That Jack Built, to Alfred Hitchcock’s Mystery Magazine and the rest, as they say, is history!

This was my first Jeffrey Deaver book, and I’m glad it was. I loved being drawn into a good mystery, and finding out who actually killed Regan from behind closed doors in broad daylight is just fantastic. It’s so hard to figure out who did it without having some of your hints thrown at you, but I must say that I didn’t expect any of them – even though it doesn’t take much more than guessing and common sense to deduce who did it (I am not going to tell you). The twists are just plain brilliant, even if sometimes they don’t make much sense from the outside view. But what really makes me love Deaver’s writing style is how he writes about people.

Jeffery Deaver is a popular and prolific American mystery writer. He is best known for his series of novels featuring Lincoln Rhyme, a quadriplegic detective, who was injured in an accident investigating an art theft. His other recurring characters include criminalist Kathryn Dance and police officers Vincent D’Agosta and Amelia Sachs. In addition to his primary series, he has written several standalone thrillers including The Blue Nowhere (which was adapted into a CBS television movie starring James Woods), Kill Room, Garden of Beasts, The Burning Wire, Mirror Image, The Vanished Man, Twisted Truths (aka Solitude Creek ), The Stone Monkey and More Twisted: Collected Stories. Outside of writing, he occasionally acts as an advisor for the U.S.
