About “Patrick Rothfuss” the author of “The Name of the Wind”
– Patrick is an American fantasy author. He is best known for his debut novel, The Name of the Wind. Rothfuss was born in Wisconsin. His mother is a biology teacher and his father was one of her students when they met. He has two brothers, Brian and Grant. He learned to play chess at age five or six and still plays occasionally with friends. From about 1988 to 1992 he worked as a computer repair technician before attending college. While in school he worked full-time as a bill collector to pay for tuition and living expenses, graduating with a degree in journalism from UW–Stevens Point in 1999 after four years; while at UWSP he wrote articles for The Stevens Point Journal on topics including co-ops and cross country skiing.
