One of the best fiction books I’ve read this year was Lauren Groff’s The Monsters of Templeton. The story takes place in the small town of Templeton. Where there is an annual event called the corn panic. Where little people dressed as corn are dropped from a bridge into the river below and then eaten by everyone in town.
Overview About “The Monsters of Templeton” by “Lauren Groff”
Growing up in Florida, we are taught early to respect nature. If you don’t, then it may come after you. But maybe even more terrifying is what comes before you—giant animals that live in swamps and grasslands and could devour us without a thought. The name of one such animal has haunted Katherine Mayfield for her entire life: Templeton. As a child, she heard stories about it from her mother. About how it was never seen but sensed as an evil lurking presence around every corner. But now that Katherine has returned to her childhood home after years away. She can no longer ignore its pull—or avoid getting close to its latest victim: Porter Mossback; heir to a local fortune and good friend from high school.
Reviews About “The Monsters of Templeton” by “Lauren Groff”
This book is about a girl who has an adventure and makes friends with monsters. But, can she survive their attacks? Can you live through their destruction? This book is good for age 10+. I think it will be enjoyable because you can make your own story. You decide what happens to her. I would recommend it to my mom and grandma since they like books that have a lot of action in them. It is written in such a way that you feel like you are in her shoes, struggling along with her during her adventure. Many people might enjoy it because many other books don’t tell the whole story. But let you make up your ending while reading it so that more people can relate to it.
About “Lauren Groff” the author of “The Monsters of Templeton”
I have always loved to read. It’s one of my favorite things to do. I read so much as a child that my parents often had to limit how many books. I took it out from our local library at a time—otherwise, I might have spent all my free time reading instead of doing other things (like going outside). As an adult, I’ve only continued to collect more and more books—the storage space required for my collection has doubled since moving into my apartment two years ago! So when I heard about The Monsters of Templeton, which features multiple book-loving characters who dedicate their lives to written works, it struck me as very interesting.
