I’ve been struggling to write anything lately, but I know that it will come back to me eventually. It always does, doesn’t it? And this story is about the time of my older brother. And I jumped off the roof of our house into an inflatable pool was just too good not to tell. My older brother was 12 at the time, and I was 8.

This book is about a young girl named Eva who goes through her teen years right alongside adolescence. When she hits puberty, things get weird. Her life gets turned upside down when she realizes that nothing makes sense. And she doesn’t know how to figure out how to solve it all. Cross Your Heart is about these everyday struggles we go through in life and how we end up overcoming them no matter what happens. It’s ultimately about growing up and finding yourself throughout all of it.

This is one of those books that once you start reading, you will have a hard time putting down. It’s so realistic and has just enough intrigue to keep your attention. I love how it starts with little nuggets of wisdom about crossing one’s heart for luck and then that is used as an analogy for life. When you cross your heart, you are willing to accept change in whatever form it comes. This is a great read! I’m looking forward to reading more from Haley Jenner in her next book.: Loved every minute I spent with Cole and Annie! Superbly written characters who grew up beautifully throughout their friendship and struggles.
About “Haley Jenner” the author of “Cross your Heart”
Haley lives in Virginia Beach, VA with her husband, two children, and a dog. She grew up in a military family traveling all over Europe where she learned to appreciate American culture, but she’s a southerner at heart. She graduated from Berry College with a degree in education and is currently teaching at Princess Anne Middle School in Virginia Beach. Cross Your Heart is her first book published through Enigmatic Ink.
