In this book, we meet Lee Fiora during her senior year at Ault, an elite boarding school in Massachusetts. She attends this prestigious institution with the help of her father, who left his job as an investment banker to make sure she gets into the right college—the best one he can afford.
Overview About “Prep” by “Curtis Sittenfeld”
Prep was released in January of 2005 and it tells the story of two teenage boys who are opposites. One boy is from a privileged background and is very intelligent. The main characters are Lee Fiora, Charlie’s sister; Knox Overstreet, Charlie’s best friend; Billy Guinn, Lee’s boyfriend; and Teddy Conway, Knox’s best friend. All of them have different ideas about what they want to do in life but throughout the novel, it is told that all four of them change drastically over time because of one incident at Ault which changes their lives forever. It turns out that at first Knox loved Lee but she rejected him multiple times then after not seeing each other for a while he started dating Teddy and realized that he only ever loved Lee and gave up on Teddy.

Prep is a novel about an American high school named Ault. This book is about four teenagers who go to school there and are connected in one way or another. Prep is a little slow to start but stick with it. It’s worth it. You think you know where you are going, and then an incident happens and changes everything. There are so many layers to every character, and watching all of them unfold is riveting as we watch history unfolding too. I read it in two days because I couldn’t put it down. Great great great!
About “Curtis Sittenfeld” the author of “Prep”
Curtis Sittenfeld was born in Lexington, Kentucky, in 1967. After graduating from Stanford University in 1989 with a BA in English and American Literature, she moved to Chicago to take a job at Time Inc. Her fiction has appeared in The New Yorker, Story, Self, Details, and other magazines, as well as several anthologies of short stories published for charitable causes. She is currently at work on her second novel for Nan A. Talese/Doubleday (Random House), due out in spring 2009. She lives with her husband and two children in Chicago.
