Reviews About “The Dream Daughter” by “Diane Chamberlain”
… no one knew she was a child of rape. Makenna found out as an adult when her birth mother approached her in an airport and told her who she was. She had made a deal with someone to get pregnant so that they could raise Makenna together. It seemed like a great idea at first – until little Makenna arrived. The whole family situation unraveled into tragedy, and it left Makenna with many questions about herself, life, and love… What I liked most about The Dream Daughter is how much I felt connected to all characters, even though we only got to know them through their perspective and not through the omniscient point of view. Every character has his or her own story, which makes them more real and relatable. This book also deals with some heavy topics such as sexual abuse, abortion, and miscarriage. Yet Diane Chamberlain writes them all without being too graphic or preachy… In my opinion, The Dream Daughter is definitely worth reading!
