The Night Before by Wendy Walker tells the story of Melody Bledsoe. She wakes up on Christmas morning to find her mother dead in the chair next to her, having suffered from a severe heart attack. Melody quickly realizes that, although everyone knows about what happened, no one knows what happened that night. She begins to investigate and finds out some things about her family and even herself that she never would have expected.
Overview About “The Night Before” by “Wendy Walker”
The night before Christmas Eve is one of my favorite times of the year. It’s a time when I reflect on my family’s history, past Christmases and make personal resolutions for a wonderful new year. This holiday season, millions of families are getting ready to celebrate together with gift-giving, parties, and gatherings galore. But in The Night Before by Wendy Walker, not everything goes as planned. As we rush around trying to get gifts bought, cookies baked and dinner prepared on Christmas Eve. We often forget that it is also one of our last opportunities to spend time as a family.
Reviews About “The Night Before” by “Wendy Walker”
I loved, LOVED The Night Before and think that it’s a classic novel of suspense. It takes place in 1975 when serial killers were not as familiar to people as they are today. Serial killing is often referred to now as a sex crime. But back then, especially for women. She had been raped or sexually assaulted—rape wasn’t something that was ever talked about. There weren’t rape counselors or even rape kits (they weren’t introduced until much later). In The Night Before, Wendy Walker weaves an intricate story that is so well written that I didn’t want to put it down. To say it’s dark would be an understatement!
