The main character, Gabriel St. John is a man who seems cold and unfeeling to the people around him, however in reality he only acts like that to make sure people don’t get hurt by those that he loves but are not meant for him. This turns out to be true when he falls in love with Elizabeth Bennet, who happens to have been raised as a sister figure after her mother died. Gabriel wants to marry Elizabeth as much as possible but can’t because she is already engaged to Charles Bingley, who happens to be his best friend at Oxford during their school days and also trying secretly from other rakes known as Lord Morland and Mr.
