I really enjoyed reading The Marriage Pact by Michelle Richmond because it was such an intriguing read. I love thrillers and this book was exactly that. It captured my attention within the first few pages. And I didn’t want to put it down until I had finished it! I think this book would be great to discuss in a book club. There are lots of interesting discussion points, plus it would be fun to guess which couple would end up with the baby at the end!

The Marriage Pact is a murder mystery thriller written in the first person. The book takes place in Silicon Valley and involves two couples who are part of a secret organization called the pact where they promise to get married before they turn thirty or face murder. It becomes apparent that someone has been killed. And it is not one of their members who open up a plot twist. The reader never knows if it’s one of their own members or just some random killer targeting them due to internal problems in the pact. I really enjoyed reading this book. Because I really had no idea where things were going next and loved that there was always an element of surprise, whether good or bad!

Many reviewers say that The Marriage Pact is a page-turner and a real page-turner in both senses of it. It is written in such a way that readers are pulled deeper into to story and characters; they want to keep on reading without any stop. It offers many twists, hard decisions, and conflicts. There are quite a few developments that readers don’t see coming at all or if they do, it’s very late in the story for them to actually react accordingly.

Michele D. Richmond is a writer and attorney who lives in Massachusetts with her husband and daughter. She studied at Harvard University for both her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and English literature. She went on to get her Juris Doctor from Northeastern University School of Law in 2005.
