Her second novel, The Name of This Book Is Secret, was nominated for a National Book Award. And now she’s finally released her third book, The Tenth Muse. We caught up with Chung to ask about what she learned from writing three novels.

The Tenth Muse is a thought-provoking and insightful novel. This particular story is based on a fictionalized account of historical events. The author paints an absolutely wonderful picture of what it was like for young women who were forced to leave China after WWII as sex slaves for American soldiers. She does an amazing job of creating multi-dimensional characters that are not only fascinating but also very easy to relate to. There is just enough suspense within each character’s story that you want to keep reading in order to learn more about their fate, but there’s never so much action or drama that it feels overwhelming or overbearing. Overall, I would highly recommend checking out The Tenth Muse! It’s a quick read with lots of insight into human nature. It is definitely worth your time! (I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review). Five stars.
