Overview About “Charlatans” by “Robin Cook”
“Charlatans” is a novel in which a cook creates another world where nothing is as it seems. Written with beautiful fluidity, Cook’s main character, Jeffrey Singer, is presented from early on as either an unreliable narrator or someone suffering from some sort of delusional disorder. This idea becomes all-important in understanding who exactly Jack Susko is (or might be) and even more important when Singer gets caught up in what turns out to be one very large-scale medical fraud scam being run out of Connecticut University Hospital. Most of all, however, Charlatans reads like a great detective story with lots of twists and turns that are at times both predictable and yet still manage to surprise you with their audacity. It will keep you guessing up until its surprising end.
Reviews About “Charlatans” by “Robin Cook”
I found The Year of Fear to be one of my favorite novels by Robin Cook. The story starts out in 1981 and takes you on a wild journey that spans 3 decades. It is obvious that a lot of research went into writing it and it offers an interesting look at medical ethics and how they were viewed back then, compared to today. As with all his books, I couldn’t put it down until I was finished reading it! This is not just one of my favorites from Mr. Cook, but also from all thrillers that I have read in general. Very well done! I highly recommend it.
