Dalton Conley, who teaches sociology at New York University, writes that One of the central concerns of sociology — indeed, of the social sciences generally — is how people make sense of their lives; the study of human behavior seeks to understand how and why we do what we do. To help us answer these questions, Conley uses real-life examples, in his book You May Ask Yourself: An Introduction to Thinking Like a Sociologist Fifth Edition. So that we can learn to recognize and understand the various ways in which we explain our behavior by asking ourselves questions.

You May Ask Yourself was first published in 1999. Although it has become an increasingly rare thing. The second edition of You May Not Wants To Know hit bookstores in 2004 and sold reasonably well. Leading me to write two more popular sociology books (All By Ourselves and Kids In The Material World). Reviews About “You May Ask Yourself: An Introduction to Thinking Like a Sociologist 5th Ed”
You may ask yourself what sociology is. You may think it’s another social science like anthropology or psychology, but it’s not. Although psychologists and anthropologists also study people, they do so from different perspectives. Anthropologists try to understand how societies and cultures affect individual thoughts and behaviors while psychologists try to understand how biology affects those same things. They are looking at us as individuals and focusing on differences between societies or cultures. While sociologists look at society as a whole and focus on similarities between people in any given society.
