This is one of my favorite textbooks for a technical communication class. It has been adapted from its 8th edition. And it contains all of the things that made that book so great: plenty of clear examples, relevant examples from popular tech companies. An engaging writing style and layout, and excellent discussion questions at the end of each chapter. The author manages to incorporate just enough humor into his writing without ever making it feel like he’s trying too hard.
About “John M. Lannon” the Author
Dr. John Michael Lannon is a professor at Arizona State University, has been teaching technical communication since 1995. And he is also the author of two other highly popular technical communication textbooks. Technical Communication in Business and Technical Writing: A Practical Approach (also available in Chinese). Dr. Lannon received his Ph.D. from Purdue University, his MA from Northern Illinois University, and his BA from St. Ambrose University (Davenport, Iowa). Dr. Lannon was born in Baltimore and grew up just outside Chicago before moving to Michigan for undergrad (Go Blue!).
