Throughout her visit, Jane begins to question whether she will find true love during her stay, or if she’ll have to settle for anything less than Mr. Darcy himself.
Overview About “Austenland” by “Shannon Hale”
Austenland (2013) is a comedic novel written by American author Shannon Hale. Austenland follows contemporary heroine Jane Hayes as she travels to England and enters Austenland, a resort-inspired by Jane Austen’s novels. There, women pay thousands of dollars for an immersive experience in which they are treated like fictional heroines and given assistance with finding love. So far, it sounds cute and romantic. But if you’re thinking you’ll soon be picking up a copy of your own, well… think again. Despite its light-hearted premise, Austenland is essentially Nora Ephron meets Clueless—with plenty of snarky commentary along the way.
Reviews About “Austenland” by “Shannon Hale”
This book is a farce and after reading I didn’t even feel like I had read a novel. Honestly, if you know nothing about Austen or Jane Austen’s work then you will probably enjoy it as much as I did but if you are familiar with her work then skip it. Her characters are all ridiculous in various ways and we don’t learn anything about them except for how completely annoying they are. In conclusion: Yes, go read Austenland but no you shouldn’t waste your time with Austenland by Shannon Hale.
