Reviews About “Persuasion” by “Jane Austen”

Persuasion is one of my favorite books, and it’s not just because of all those romantic moments between Anne and Wentworth. Yes, they’re cute, but I also love how honest they are with each other (and themselves). At one point in their relationship, Anne mentions that she sometimes finds Wentworth too agreeable—too soft-spoken—and he admits that his sister once told him he was much more assertive before he knew Anne. But that doesn’t mean he’ll go back to his old ways. It just means that sometimes you need someone else to see things about you that you can’t see for yourself. That takes honesty, which is what makes Persuasion so great . . . which is why I’m giving it five stars.

About “Jane Austen” the author of “Persuasion”

Jane Austen (16 December 1775 – 18 July 1817) was an English novelist whose works of romantic fiction, set among the landed gentry, earned her a place as one of the most widely read writers in English literature. Her realism, biting irony, and social commentary have gained her historical importance among scholars and critics. Contemporary critics often classify her as a writer of bildungsroman novels – a literary genre that focuses on personal growth and self-development rather than plot events. In 2007 Persuasion was voted Top Ten in The Big Read.
