This collection includes some of her best-known works, including Coming Home and The Dressmaker’s Doll. Short stories are an excellent read for those who don’t have much time to spend on books but still want something substantial. All of these stories were published previously in various magazines. About “Rosamunde Pilcher” the author of “Coming Home”
Rosamunde was born on December 21, 1923, in Berkshire, England. She died on July 2, 2007, in Oxfordshire. She had one sister and two brothers. Rosamunde loved to write since she was a child. When she was seven years old her parents bought her a typewriter so she could write stories at home instead of going to school. In 1942 she married and they moved to London where they had four children together: David (b 1945), Gillian (b 1947), Robert (b 1949), and Matthew (b 1954). In 1967 her husband died suddenly after a heart attack and Rosamunde moved with her family back to their native Oxfordshire, living at Hutton Court Farm near Stadhampton which is just west of Oxford in England.
