Review About Man, Woman, and Child
Erich Segal comes with a beautiful love story. It starts when Robert (the central character of the novel) receives a call from France from a friend. He informs Robert about Nicole, a woman with home Robert fell in love with years ago, who has died.
During the period of their love, she became pregnant but till it comes in the information of Robert, she moved to France. Robert got married to Sheila and awarded two daughters i.e. Jessica and Paula. Today his friend called him and informed him that Nicole has died and left one child Jean-Claude and no one is there to care for him. Robert took his wife Sheila on this situation and convinced her to take in Jean-Claude for the summer holidays. However, they decided to keep the true identity of Jean-Claude secret from any person.
After the summer vacation, Sheila becomes the chief editor of the Harvard University Press. She is insisted by her friend Margo to attempt an affair with a British professor of the University whose book she is editing. In the meanwhile, her two daughters, Paula and Jessica, dig out the real and true identity of Jean-Claude. This fact has been revealed upon them by Davey Ackerman, the son of Robert’s friend. However, Jessica and Paula decided not to speak with her parents that we are aware of the true identity of Jean-Claude.
The novel is very interesting and highlights the real story of a family. As well as the reader goes through the novel, the suspense, and interest in the story rise. This suspense enforces the readers to read the novel till the end.
About “Erich Segal”, the author of “Man, Woman, and Child”
Erich Wolf Segal, an American author, educator, and screenwriter, was born on June 16, 1937, in Brooklyn, New York, US. Segal attended Midwood High School to accomplish his matriculation and later on, traveled to Switzerland for short summer courses. He obtained his graduation degree from Harvard College, master’s degree in 1959 from Harvard University, and a doctorate in comparative literature in 1965 from Harvard University. He also served at Harvard University as a Professor of Greek and Latin Literature. He also remained an Honorary Fellow of Wolfson College at Oxford University.
